Where have I volunteered?
Saginaw Child Care Center helper:
(Summer 2011) At the Child Care Center, I was a child helper. I would help the children put on sunscreen, play games with them and watch over them. I learned that is important to pay attention to what the children want and put them above yourself.
Community Players of New Hamburg:
(April 2011 and May 2012) While volunteering here, I assisted with the set up and tear down of the sets. This includes painting the sets and constructing the risers. I learned that hard work pays off (the result of the set being built) and new skills with working with others.
Hockey Game Time Keeper:
(Winter 2011 and Winter 2012) While volunteering at hockey games, I learned that I have to pay close attention to the game and follow every move (goals, whistles etc.). I also learned to work with others. There are two people (one clock operator and one game sheet writer) and we have to colaborate with each other about what is happening in the game.
YMCA Day Camp:
(Summer 2008) The dayc camp volunteer was my first volunteering experience and it encouraged my to continue to volunteer. My jobs here were similar to those of the child care helper. I learned that it is important to give back to the community and even a simple job like volunteering can make a huge impact.
